Unlike the hot springs elsewhere in the province, the water at Soğuk Çermik emerges at a mild temperature of around 28°C and is a mineral water containing calcium, bicarbonates and carbon dioxide. Locally it has long been associated with easing stomach, intestinal and gallbladder complaints when drunk, and the site has long been developed as a picnic destination, with drinking water brought to the area and picnic grounds laid out over the years. Today the facility includes pools and bathing areas alongside picnic grounds, with both simple accommodation and tent camping for those who want to stay longer, and it remains a popular summer escape for people from Sivas and beyond.
